First it got a few smirks, now I can't imagine life without it: an honest report about the bamboo stool, the squat position, and why my daughter benefits from it too.
I never thought a toilet stool would make such a difference – until I tried one. Now I honestly wonder how I ever managed without it. The natural squatting posture you get with a toilet stool is simply so much more comfortable that I don't want to go to the bathroom any other way. And honestly? Since getting my new bamboo toilet stool, my bathroom not only looks nicer, I've also finally found a proper solution – instead of continuing to repurpose my daughter's little step stool.
I'd heard about toilet stools again and again, but never really given them much thought. After the first few tries it was clear: this one stays. With my feet on the stool, I'm more in a squat than sitting upright – and that feels considerably easier for me. Things go more smoothly with the stool – I hardly have to push at all anymore. I sit for less time, I strain less, and I get up feeling more relaxed.

Something I never considered before: a toilet stool isn't just handy for adults. Kids also get onto the toilet more easily with a stool and have something under their feet while sitting – with little ones, ideally under supervision. I wish I'd had a solution like this for my daughter earlier – then all that endless pushing her step stool back and forth wouldn't have been necessary at all.
My new bamboo toilet stool isn't just good-looking and a perfect match for the rest of my bathroom, it also slides neatly under the toilet whenever I don't need it. So practical! Before that, as I mentioned, I'd been using my daughter's old step stool as a makeshift solution. It just didn't fit the look and was constantly in the way. Now that old plastic kids' stool can finally go – and my bathroom looks much tidier.
These days I don't go to the bathroom without it. Squatting instead of sitting upright, a stool that disappears under the bowl, and one less plastic stool in the way. That's all there is to it – and for me, that's all it takes.
