In Short
The combination improves emptying and cleaning at the same time. The two work together, because less pressure and less friction are needed.
What We’ve Been Sold as Normal
Sitting at a 90-degree angle is considered the standard. Wiping with dry paper is considered enough. Neither is often questioned, even though many people strain, wipe again, and still don’t feel clean.
The Honest Explanation
The bowel empties more easily when the rectum is straightened. A raised foot position brings the body closer to a squat. This reduces resistance in the rectum and cuts down on straining.
After emptying, water removes residue directly from the skin. Paper often just moves it around. Less mechanical friction means less skin irritation, especially with frequent use or sensitive skin.
The combination makes sense: better emptying leaves less residue, and water removes the rest thoroughly. The body needs less effort and less contact with paper to get there.
What You Often Hear – and What’s True
“A stool is just a trend.”
Body posture demonstrably affects the angle of emptying.
“Paper is perfectly enough.”
Paper cleans incompletely and can spread residue around.
“Water is overkill.”
Water cleans more directly and reduces irritation.
“Both together is unnecessary.”
The effects apply to different steps: emptying and cleaning.
Putting It in Context
The combination corrects two common weak points at once. It follows body mechanics instead of habit.
