The Honest Explanation
A butt shower is a handheld shower with a water reservoir – nothing gets installed, it travels with you, and it costs little. A bidet attachment adds a nozzle to the toilet you already have. A shower toilet, on the other hand, replaces the whole toilet: nozzle, often warm water, a dryer and a remote, permanently fitted and considerably more expensive.
All of them clean with water instead of paper; they differ in installation effort, features and price, not in the basic principle.
What You Often Hear – and What's True
“Only a shower toilet really cleans.”
No. The cleaning is done by the stream of water, which a butt shower delivers too.
“A butt shower is a cheap compromise.”
No. It's portable and needs no installation – a different purpose, not a worse one.
“Anyone can just fit a shower toilet.”
It needs electricity and a permanent connection.
“In the end it's all the same.”
In principle yes, in effort no.
